George W. Maher, 1905

A massive (and recently restored) stucco residence. Maher’s unique take on the Prairie style here gains an Egyptian flavor courtesy of the columns (though the capitals consist of stylized tulips). Inside, the tulip and a tripartite arch motif are found everywhere.

Photographs from 1985 courtesy of Richard Kenyon.
