House Ransom Buffalow, c. 1916
The solid red brick base and matching retaining wall of this house provide a strong horizontal emphasis, which makes the contrasting shingled upper story and its broad roofline seem to float above the first story.The simple but abstract design of the insets in the massive porch piers and the variety of fenestration patterns add a nice interplay between horizontals and verticals on the facade.
Listed
in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 as part of the
Riverside Historic District.
