Catherine Gray House
(also known as the W.G. Purcell House)
2409 East Lake of the Isles Parkway
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55405-2479

Purcell & Feick, 1907

Purcell designed this residence, loosely based on Wright’s Ladies Home Journal house, for his grandmother. Purcell and his wife lived there for several years, until tension between his wife and his grandmother led to the construction of his own home nearby. Several structural alterations have been made through the years, including the removal of a screened pavilion; the original exterior materials (tan stucco, brick and wood trim), once covered with white paint, have recently been restored.
