Random Notes - A Blog

16 March 2009
Wayne Wood, who is almost single-handedly responsible for the Florida pages on this site, is featured in Southwest Airlines’ Spirit magazine. As the article notes, Wayne, an optometrist, writer and educator, is the founder of Riverside Avondale Preservation; he is pictured in front of his home, the Lucius T. Smith House, a Prairie landmark on Jacksonville’s Riverside Avenue.

What the article doesn’t mention is that another great initiative of Wayne’s is about to come to fruition: the opening of Jacksonville’s Riverside Arts Market on 4 April 2009, a project he conceived sixteen years ago. Congratulations to Wayne and the good citizens of Jacksonville for this important addition to the cultural life of their city!

As always, I welcome your comments about this site or any Prairie School building.
